Jacob Lawrence: The Legend of John Brown

Jacob Lawrence’s fifth narrative series, The Legend of John Brown documents key moments in this white abolitionist’s life. In these twenty-two screenprints Lawrence illustrates Brown’s devotion to emancipation, his raid on Harper’s Ferry, Virginia in 1859, as well as his subsequent trial and execution.
