The Lowe Art Museum at the University of Miami proudly marks its 75th anniversary this year, commemorating a legacy of artistic excellence, education, and cultural service to South Florida and beyond. Since opening its doors on February 22, 1950, the Lowe has grown from a regional treasure into a leading academic art museum with global reach and local impact. This milestone year is not only a time to reflect on the past—it is also an opportunity to shape the future. Throughout 2025, the Lowe will continue to present a wide-ranging series of exhibitions, public programs, and community initiatives that honor the museum’s history while embracing the possibilities ahead. “Over the course of its long and distinguished history, the Lowe—like its parent organization, the University of Miami—has grown into an exemplary institution. My team and I are honored to build on the solid foundation created by our predecessors, shaping the museum’s next chapter in response to the changing needs of the many audiences we serve. With the support of UM and our many supporters, we will be able to continue serving as an invaluable resource for education and engagement through art and culture not only for our campus but also all surrounding communities, thereby improving the quality of life in Coral Gables and throughout Miami-Dadae County,” ~ Dr. Jill Deupi, Beaux Arts Director and Chief Curator.
As Miami continues to rise as an international center for art and culture, the Lowe remains committed to accessibility and meaningful engagement. Its 75th anniversary is more than a celebration—it’s a renewed promise to serve as a cultural catalyst for generations to come.
